Is Your Workforce Being Worked to a Standstill?
All employers wish to maximise their staff efficiency.  Unfortunately, present day demands on business are leading to increasing pressure upon staff at all levels.  It is estimated that up to 75% of all illness is stress-related.  The cost to the country and to individual businesses is huge.  The CBI estimates that absenteeism, as a result of stress is costing British industry approximately £11.5 billion a year.

The effects of stress can substantially reduce efficiency and accuracy not only in the performance of physical tasks, but also in the areas of abstract planning, decision-making and creativity.  Prolonged stress can lead to tiredness and irritability, a weakening of the immune system and the development of physical illness.

Furthermore, the head of the Civil Service Occupational Health Service has warned employers that they could face a spate of legal claims for stress-related conditions unless they act swiftly to defuse stressful work environments.

What Can Be Done?
A study by the Institute of Management about the significant increase in stress in recent years, reported that Reflexology and other complementary therapies are increasingly being used to combat work related stress.  Some countries, like Denmark, have been addressing this problem for a number of years.  Many firms now involve complementary therapists in the maintenance of well-being amongst their workforce.   Reflexology has proved very successful in this field, partly because its use is so flexible.
Case Study 3
London based publishers TPD Publishing is committed to the health of the staff for the very practical reason that they make a huge contribution to the company's success.  Chairman Julian Treasure says : "Offering  the treatment is a visible sign of our determination to avoid people getting strung out.  They can take time out in the working day and have a subsidy towards treatment.  They come back recharged, refreshed and work better, so there is a pay back in terms of increased productivity, happiness and commitment."
Case Study 2
Ishoj Municipal Health Department recorded 2,499 fewer sick  hours over a 6 month period in which employees received Reflexology, giving a saving of
£21,490.
Case Study 1
Odense Post Office in Denmark which has employed a full-time Reflexologist since 1990 reports saving around £100,000 a year due to a 13.3%  reduction in sickness and absenteeism.

How Can Reflexology Be Used in Your Organisation?

The benefits of Reflexology can be made available to your staff in a number of ways, depending on the degree of input your organisation wishes to have - from simply helping staff to become aware of the help that Reflexology can offer, to providing subsidised treatments in-house for your employees.

Some options for consideration are suggested below. I can work with you flexibly to provide a practical solution for your needs, combining a range of options if appropriate

Presentations to staff
, publicity and leaflets made available to educate staff in the benefits of the therapy. In this case, your organisation's involvement would be minimal, and might be confined to making a room available and publicising the presentation and availability of material; any employee take-up would be a purely personal matter.
 "A Company Loyalty Scheme"
. Staff could be encouraged to attend for treatment, and incentives could be offered by the organisation to enable them to attend regularly. I will provide a discounted service to any member of your staff attending for treatment at my practice in Farnborough. It is up to the company if they wish to add to these discounts through further subsidy.
As part of a Healthy Workplace Week or similar initiative, a room could be provided in the company to offer "taster sessions" to staff. The company would pay for these so that there would be no cost to the staff, but any further take up would be a matter for the staff to resource.
A room in the company could be made available on a more regular basis where staff could attend for treatments. The company might subsidise these or make payment the responsibility of the staff. In addition, the company might provide facility time or make working times flexible to enable staff to attend.
