On your first visit there will be a preliminary chat about your general health and lifestyle. There are some things that I need to know, but for the most part it is entirely up to you how much or how little you wish to say.
Then you will remove your shoes and socks and relax (usually lying down) while I work on your feet. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Sensitive and trained hands can detect tiny imbalances in the feet, and working on these points can help release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body.
Reflexology treatments are generally very pleasant and soothing. You are likely to feel deeply relaxed whilst the treatment stimulates the body's own healing mechanisms. There may be a little discomfort in some places, but this is fleeting and is an indication of tension or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body.
A reflexology session is about 50 minutes, so you should plan for an hour 'door to door'.
Some people feel an immediate reaction; for others the benefits of reflexology build up gently and gradually. Many people choose to have an initial series of treatments on a weekly or fortnightly basis and then follow this up with a maintenance programme of monthly sessions to keep the body in tune. But ad hoc sessions whenever you just feel like a real chance to relax are also beneficial, and appointments at short notice can often be accommodated.
